Renewable Energy an opportunity for Sustainable Development
The Renewable Energy Program for Latin America was established in 1992 by the former SWTDI, now the Institute for Energy and the Environment, at New Mexico State University to support regional development activities for the US Department of Energy, Sandia National Laboratories, National Renewable Energy Laboratory, US Agency for International Development, Winrock International, World Bank, and other numerous in-country agencies. Our goal is to promote economic and social development Latin America through renewable energy technologies that meet pressing regional development needs, especially in rural areas.
El Programa de Energía Renovable para Latinoamérica se estableció en 1992 por el entonces Instituto de Desarrollo Tecnológico del Suroeste, ahora Instituto de Energía y Medioambiente de la Universidad Estatal de Nuevo México para apoyar el desarrollo de proyectos del Departamento de Energía, los Laboratorios Nacionales Sandía, el Laboratorio Nacional de Energía Renovable, la Agencia para el Desarrollo Internacional, el Banco Mundial y numerosas agencias más. Nuestra meta es promover el desarrollo económico y social de América Latina mediante la aplicación de tecnologías de energía renovable que satisfagan necesidades urgentes de desarrollo, especialmente en áreas rurales.
